Tigger's 2nd USR Trail Challenge...
UMATILLA SAGE RIDER'S SPOOKTACULAR TRAIL CHALLENGE....
In spite of the rain and my feet being soaked we finished our 3rd Trail Challenge!! I wanted to explain a few of the obstacles that Tigger and I had to maneuver through. The first one was "LOG JAM"...please pay attention how careful Tigger places his feet. I think he did a better job than his trainer!! LOL!! The second one was "LEADING HIM ON THE OFF SIDE" (which we have never trained for!!) Doesn't he look like he is scared "almost" to death having me drag the tarp by his side walking around those spooky poles?? Now you need to remember that Tigger is only "2 " !! The third was "TROTTING AROUND THE BLACKBERRY BUSH". He was suppose to trot...but I think he didn't like me asking him to trot on the "off" side. He does an awesome job from the "CORRECT" side!! :( The forth was going through the "CAR WASH" and then right "OVER THE BRIDGE"...now he loved doing that!! He was such a "GOOD BOY" !!! You're kidding "MORE" tarps ?? He was sure hoping to have a little break and morning snack while transferring the hay nets from one barrel to the other. I think "THE TUNNEL" is his favorite thing to do!! We put it up and we tried really hard to make it scary for him and all the other horses. Some of the other horses did have a few issues with passing through. One of last obstacles is "BACKING THROUGH POLES" laying on the ground. Backing is one of Tigger's great qualities for a "YOUNG" horse!! :) The judges just loved him and it looks like he loved them back!! Hope you enjoyed our video and we hope to be making some more very soon. :) MAYBE THE NEXT ONE WILL BE A LITTLE SHORTER...IT HAS TAKEN WAY TOOOOO LONG TO DOWNLOAD THIS ONE !!!

As you can see things have changed a little at our ranch!! :)
" Yes "... this is a good thing!!Tigger and I are doing "GREAT"!!
It seems like he enjoys going over the bridge even more !! LOL!!!
Tigger and I are doing lots more together than just crossing over bridges!!
You will have to stay tunned and hopefully we will be showing a short video of our best performance yet !! Do I have your attention!!..??
Thanks for visiting and checking up on our progress from time to time. :)

PRECIOUS MIRACLE...
I want everyone to know that my "TIGGER" was not responsible. Most people would assume that since he is only a "TWO" year old!! ...But thank goodness it was not the case!! It was just one of those "FREAK ACCIDENTS" that every cowgirl or cowboy "NEVER" wants to experience!
Lets move on to something more positive and rewarding !!!
We just recently retired one of our performance horses (LUCY) !!
She let us know one day after being so loving and patient with one of our granddaughter's...(CASSIDY). Our granddaughter did many miles in the arena with her without even one complaint. Interesting enough that was the 1st time she ever had a child put on her back for a ride. So needless to say because of that experience and many more...Steve and I made a decision to donate her to a wonderful facility in Yakima...called "PEGASUS PROJECT". It is a beautiful ~ wonderful ~ loving ~ caring ranch that helps "many special needs" with children and even some adult disabilities. Coincidentally, one of out adult friends is benefiting each week with his therapy sessions... our hope is that he will be able to ride our Lucy very soon!!
Our "great" veterinarian "KALIE MERCER" was the one that suggested this place for our precious Lucy. We then decided to go for a visit/tour of the facility/ranch. At the end of our visit/tour we couldn't think of a better place for our Lucy to live out the rest of her years. She is only 11 years old and most of the horses that they purchase or that are donated are usually closer to their twenties. So once Lucy passes "all" her tests/training and is finished with her 8 weeks trial period...she will graduate and become of the "BEST" Pegasus therapy horse's ever !!!
The gal that has been working very closely with Lucy is Caitlin..it sounds like they are making a great team...even if I feel just a little heart broken & jealous. I have a note from her that I would like to share with you all. ~~I just received this today (07/29/10)~~
I just wanted to let you both know that Lucy had a "AWESOME" training session yesterday. A volunteer led her and I was on her. We were doing rider movement and noise, and nothing I did fazed her! She put up with me screaming, bouncing, hugging her, getting off balance, turning around backwards, touching her croup (under her tail) and ears and squeezing my legs. She continued to pay attention to her leader and not once did she seriously object to anything I was doing. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to work with such a cool mare.
Caitlin
I think that says quite a bit and is a great ending to my story!! Since I feel I have probably written way to much for one post...I would like to share some pictures of ...

PRACTICE AND TRAIL CHALLENGE
The bridge obstacle is my favorite!!
Can you see the smile on my face??
At the end of a long day every horse deserves
a little drink from the irrigation weir box.
Don't you think?
Mom's are good about making sure you stay
hydrated and of course loved. :)
Crossing the bridge...I loved this one!!
"Z" obstacle...I had to back thru and I'm not piratically fond of this one.
Now you can see why I don't really care for this obstacle !!
Here is proof that we competed and placed 2nd place!! :)

Tails and Trailers...
Look Out!! ~ I'm comin in!!
Tigger did such a great job learning to load in the "BIG BOY" horse trailer this week.
I'm convinced that it even helped improve his backing up skills. :)
We will see how he does this weekend backing up on the "Trail Challenge" course.
