NICE HEALTHY COLT !!

OUR NEIGHBOR HAS BEEN LETTING A FRIEND BOARD A COUPLE OF HORSES

AND NOW THEY HAVE THREE !! :-)

THE OWNER HAD LASER EYE SURGERY TODAY...SO HE DECIDED TO NAME HIS

NEW COLT "LASER" !!

DO YOU THINK HE'LL LIKE HIS NAME WHEN HE GROWS UP ??

HE IS AMAZINGLY EXTRA FRIENDLY...

HIS LITTLE NOSE WAS ALREADY LOOKING FOR A TREAT IN MY POCKET !!

IT LOOKS LIKE HE WILL BE A HANDSOME BAY WITH (4) WHITE SOCKS...

AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE ON DAY ONE !! :-)

Bonina Trail Challenge 2012

Thanks to my great production crew...we have an awesome video of Nedra & Wyatt to share !!

There were (4) Courses total...(2) on Saturday and (2) on Sunday... each day we had a cattle challenge !!
Course #1...Had 15 obstacles... navigate thru rocks down hill...then walk thru water...get a marshmallow stick & roast it on the campfire from horseback. Trot over logs and p/u hay bag from mailbox and carry it up hill while trotting your horse. Top of hill we had to trot in the orchard around (5) fruit trees and weave thru (5) skinny bushes. We had to back our horse up a hill & then ride off the hill down around some cones. Back down the hill trotting & put hay bag back on mailbox.
Course # 2...Also had 15 obstacles...Open tub gate...Dismount & Ground tie...P/U hay bag...Mount & throw hay bag over fence...Back down alley...Dismount in front of livestock scales. Put horse in scales. Reins on saddle horn & close gate. P/U weight ticket. Write down estimate of the weight of your horse & tack. Then we went down the alley and on to the cow work !!
Course's #3 & #4 both had 15 obstacles to deal with...but that made the Trail Challenge the best in the North West !! :) I think I would have a huge cramps in all my fingers if I told about every single obstacle. Hopefully the video will help explain the rest of the weekend !! :-)

We even won a cool "BONINA" jacket for winning 1st Place !!  :-)

PUPPY UPDATE !!

As you can see... Louie is loving his new home!!

He even cooperates and lays still while he is getting a ice pack on his boo boo !!

Braden informed me this evening... he really is enjoying having a new foot warmer on his bed !!

During the night he does sneak up and try to share Braden's pillow.

Good thing they took him home...or we would be having a new addition to "our" ranch !! lol!!

It will be fun to see him grow into those big paws !! :-)

PUPPY THOUGHTS...

MIRACLE OR BLESSING ??

I guess you could say...

I woke up on the wrong side of town !!

My morning went down hill fast...due to my bad choice !!

Feeling unloved & unwanted I decided to hang out with a couple of buddies. They took me on a tour thru town and then I followed them across HWY 22...we'll almost...you guessed it...I got hit by a car and my buddies left

me for DEAD !! As I'm laying in the cold hwy and yelping my head off...I knew I was going to meet my maker any minute !!

But...unbeknown to me my yelping got the attention of (2) guy's across the hwy in a hay field. I'm sure with all my yelping and it stopping as quick as it started...they thought I was a dead puppy! I watched them turn their backs and I'm sure they were sick at heart when they started to walk away. Thought to self... be brave crawl to those guy's...they might bring help! So as if I was lifted by angel wings...before I knew it I was across the hwy...crawled over huge rail road tracks & tumbled down a hill into some old cattle catch pens. But...I think I must of got the attention of those (2) guy's again...I could see that they were looking over the ledge to see if it was really me! They walked down to check me out...but then they left me there all alone. Thought to myself again...why are you guy's leaving me " HERE TO DIE"! I guess I should of given them a little more credit than that...in just a few minutes I had a brand new rescue person...she was a lot prettier than the (2) guy's! She came walking down the long bank and when she was close enough for me to hear her...she says you'll be alright little one! How can she say that...does she really know how much pain I'm really in? But...then she picked me up and held me tight and gently we rode on the 4 wheeler back to her house. I really started to begin thinking that this could be a good thing! I guess you could say that this is becoming a huge possibility of it going to be the luckiest day of my life! After we got back to the house...she checked to see if my right leg was broken...good news just hurts like it is! She called her favorite vet and got some great advice how to make me feel more comfortable. The ice on my leg and the pain meds really helped my puppy boo boo. Then all the adults were discussing what they were going to do with me. I'm thinking... can I please stay here and not go back to that bad place I ran away from. After the discussion one of the adults made a phone call and because of that phone call they decided I needed a bath. I was having a hard time figuring out that decision! I have to admit that warm bath felt wonderful and I did smell a whole lot better. :)

I'm not sure if it was my cute face...fluffy coat or my bath...but I'm heading to Idaho to live with a "new" Master named Braden. The guy that is taking me to Idaho is Brian... he is Braden's Dad.
As you can see...I'm loving my new master & friend. He makes me feel secure...warm and loved!
I even think that big fuzzy thing on his lap even likes me! lol!

So the moral of this sorta long story...

You never know what will happen when you wake up on the wrong side of town!!

OOPS!! I almost forgot to tell you what my new name is...it's LOUIE !! Plus I have a newly adopted big sister and her name is LUCKY !! I think I should of had that name...you know just considering my story and all. I love my new name ...because my new best friend picked it out!!

(Nedra) I'm not sure that all these thoughts came from Louie. I do know one thing for sure...

he is one "Happy Camper" !! :-)
